AUJOURD'HUI - Day 3 2016

[9/16] Alhassan Khalil (Eng) 3-1 [9/16] Mhd N. Hasanen
(Egy)                  11-13, 11-5, 11-6, 11-8
[5/8] Oliver Green (Eng) v [2] Sebastiaan Hofman (Ned)
                          11-6, 11-5, 11-6

No seed left in that age group, with Khalil wining the Egyptian derby against Hasanen, and Oliver Green upsetting Sebastiaan Hofman, the second seed from Netherlands in three clean games.

[1] Lucie Stefanoni (Usa) 3-0 [3/4] Jasmine Tranter
(Eng)                11-3, 11-5, 11-3 (23m)
[9/16] Jana Metwaly Easa (Egy) 3-0 [2] Ninon
Lemarchand      11-5, 11-2, 11-4 (31m)

France lost their #2 when Ninon Lemarchand bowed to 9/16 Jana Metwaly Easa. The Egyptian meets the American and favourite for the title Lucie Stefanoni who also beat her opponent English Jasmine Tranter in three.

[1] Conor Moran (Irl) 3-1 [5/8] Youssef Ezzeldin (Egy)
                         12-10, 8-11, 11-3, 11-7
[9/16] Jared Carter (Eng) 3-0 [2] Ismail A. Gawad (Egy)
                        11-9, 11-4, 11-3

Well, Ismail Abdel Gawad finally lost this afternoon on his second match of the day. After his huge battle against compatriot Yousef Amr 13/11 in the 5th, I guess he felt a bit flat bless him, and against a determined and talented English Jared Carter, that was never going to do was it. Jared prevails in three.

Jared will now affront #1 Conor Moran who had to keep the Egyptian Ezzeldin at arm lenght, 3/1.

[1] Fleur MAAS (Ned) 3-1 [5/8] Nour Ibrahim
                          11-6, 11-2, 11-8
[3/4] Alice Green (Eng) 3-1 [2] Ambre Allinckx (Sui)
                         11-4, 11-6, 2-11, 12-10

[5/8] Nick Wall (Eng) 3-0 [17/32] Ahmed Elmashad
                          11-2, 16-14, 11-6 (47m)
[3/4] Ondrej Vorlicek (Cze) 3-1 [17/32] Richard Hall (Eng)                   8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6 (62m)

[1] Fanny Segers (Fra) 3-0 [9/16] Charlotte Jagger (Eng)
                          11-8, 11-2, 11-7 (19m)
[3/4] Elise Lazarus (Eng) 3-0 [2] Juliette Permentier
                         11-3, 11-1, 11-4 (16m)

[1] Benjamin Aubert (Fra) 3-1 [3/4] Victor Crouin
                                   2-11, 11-6, 11-5, 12-10
[5/8] Sajad Zareian (Ira) 3-2 [17/32] Sébastien Bonmalais (Fra)          14/12, 9/11, 13/11, 12/14, 11/9

Surely, Sajad/Sébastien has to be the match of the day! Just look at the score, 14/12, 9/11, 13/11, 12/14, 11/9! The French audience pushed their man, but it was not to be this time...

As for the PACA (South of France Region) derby, Benji prevails, after a terrible start, 2/11, to take the next three 6, 5 and on tie-break, 12/10....

After winning my quarter against Oisin Dunne 3/0 this morning, I lost the semi-final against Benjamin Aubert.

Despite my good first game, I didn't manage to win this one. He was better than me this evening ...

I save 5 match balls in the 4th, but I still lost the tie-break.

Place 3/4 tomorrow against Sebastien Bonmalais !

[1] Tinne Gilis (Bel) 3-0 [3/4] Elin Harlow (Wal)
                         11-6, 11-6, 11-8 (36m)
[5/8] Cristina Gomez (Esp) 3-1 [2] Céline Walser (Sui)
                         11-5, 7-11, 11-2, 11-6 (50m)

Day 2
Day 1

Manu Video Man in action

This was not a good day for Ireland... Their two players failed to get to the semis, first Denis Gilevskiy, #1, fell to 9/16 Egyptian Mohamed Nasser Hasanen 11/9 in the 5th, in two minute short of one hour. Then Dylan Moran 3/4 lost to English Oliver Green 7, 5, and 7.

English Alhassan Khalil managed to contain Ahmed Ismail 3/1, whil it took 4 game to Dutch Sebastiaan Hofman to beat English Laurence Cull.

Very contrasted matches for those quarters: Lucie Stefanoni got rid of the French Lola Douillard for only 4 points (official time says 54m, somehow I doubt it...)

We also had an upset, with 3/4 Franka Vidovic falling to Jana Easa 14/12 in the 3rd, while French number 2 seed Ninon Lemarchand had to battle 4 games against 5/8 Lianka Radzyminski.

The most disputed match was the English Derby, Jasmine Tranter taking Layla Johnson out 15/13 in the 5th bless her!

Well, as ever, Egypt creates the buzz. In the BU15, Ismail Abdel Gawad had to fight tooth and nails to despatch compatriot Youssef Mohamed Amr! It had started well for Ismail, leading comfy 2/0 but Youssef came back and forced a decider, only losing 13/11 in the 5th! Ismail will face English Jared Carter who upset 3/4 David Maier 3/0

As for the other Egyptian in the quarters, 5/8 Youssef Ezzeldin, he beat 3/4 Dutch Tom Schreurs 3/0 to set up a semis against Top Dog Conor Moran from Ireland.

All matches went in 3, one seed fell, Daniek Krukkert 3/4 to Nour Ibrahim 6, 6, and 6! No suprise elsewhere. Fleur Maas will then play Nour in the semi, while Alice Green takes on Ambre Allinckx.

Well, apart from seed 2 Luke Logan from Ireland who beat Richard Hall in 3 and a very tough first game, all the favorite have now fallen!

Egypt Ahmed Elmashad, 17/32, prevailed against top dog Roko Voncina 3/0. He'll now face English Nick Wall - from Nick Matthew Academy in Sheffield - who also created the buzz by beating 3/4 Viktor Byrtus in nearly an hour and 4 very disputed games. And to finish the upset listing, Iranian Alireza Shameli defeated Ondrej Vorlicek 12/10, 11/1, 11/0.

The French two top seeds didn't have an easy ride to the semis, both having to fight for 4 games. Fanny Segers finally gets rid of Laura Neill from England, while Juliette Permentier outs Irish Ellie Mcveigh. They'll play Charlotte Jagger and Elise Lazarus respectively.

Three out of four for France! Two are not exactly a surprise - Benji Aubert was #1, and Victor Crouin 3/4 - both beating Frenchman Lucas Rousselet and Irish Oisin Dunne 3-0 respectively.

Surprise comes from La Réunion, Sébastien Bonmalais 17/32, who had a 3/0 victory against his compatriot Guillaume Ducos. Today, Sébastien was facing yesterday heros Elliot Morris who defeated home favourite Enzo Corigliano in an epic match, 13/11 in the 5th! Welsh Elliot fought very hard again today, but my bet would be he must have felt some heavy legs today, and Sebastien just kept his calm to take the victory 3/1 in 50m.

Trying to spoil the French Party, we have Sajad Zareian, again upseting the seedings! Sajad was u 11/9, 11/9, only to see his opponent coming back 11/3, 11/4, and fought back in the 5th to take the match 11/9 in the 5th, in 67m!

Marina Stefanoni has certainly gave a good run for her money to Tinne Gilis, 13/11 in the 1st game, and 14/12 in the 3rd! Elin Harlow, one of the hot favorites of the event, had to work bleeping hard too, and managed to sneak in a 5 setter victory, with Ingy Hamouda having to retire due to injury 8/3 in the 5th.

The last French hopes got crushed as Lauriane Maingot got beaten by Spanish Cristinia Gomez who'll face seed 2 Céline Walser who ousted Saskia Beinhard in 4 games.
